Tracey Lind, dean of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland and the featured speaker at the 11th Annual Becoming the Household of God conference in April 2008, left participants with a new understanding of piazza.
Her concept of piazza is based on the life and writings of St. Angela Merici, founder of the Ursuline teaching order in the 1500s. Lind explained piazza (Italian for “place” or “plaza”) as a place where all may gather and where young and old learn from each other.
The Cleveland dean also left the Cathedral Bookshop with a reading list on related topics that became hot items during the stewardship conference. The books and resources are still available on the shelves of the bookshop.
The recommended reading list for the conference includes diverse works of fiction and non-fiction ranging from The Life of Pi by Yann Martel to No Future Without Forgiveness by Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
View the list and purchase recommended titles by visiting Detroit Cathedral Bookshop’s Website at http://bookshop.detroitcathedral.org Tracey Lind’s book, Interrupted by God: Glimpses from the Edge, is also available for purchase. Contact the bookshop at 313/833-7545.
