The Record Editorial Board is an important foundation of the diocesan newspaper—and without a strong board, The Record would not be a strong and effective vehicle for communication in the Diocese of Michigan. Each member of the nine-person board must have a solid understanding of the history and role of the newspaper.

Each spring, the Editorial Board elects three members to the board who will serve for a three-year term. The top priorities for membership are:
1) willingness and ability to attend each quarterly meeting;
2) understanding and interest in journalism, particularly religious journalism and the role of a diocesan newspaper;
3) ability to make the interests of the readers and the editorial integrity of the newspaper a chief priority of your commitment to the newspaper.

The Editorial Board also seeks to place persons who can bring diversity to the board—racial and ethnic diversity, gender and sexual orientation diversity, theological and geographic diversity.
